If you really want to add more entries to /etc/resolv.conf, create a /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail and add them there.
root@speedy:/etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d# cat tail
domain csuohio.edu.
search csuohio.edu.
nameserver 8.8.8.8
